Wonder Woman is one of the most popular comic book heroes ever, so it’s no surprise that her comics can be valuable at auction. She was so popular, in fact, that when DC Comics temporarily canceled many of its book runs in the 1940s, her books, along with Superman‘s and Batman‘s, were the only books DC continued to invest in.
Princess Diana of the Amazons, in fact, made her debut battling Nazis in All-Star Comics #8 in December of 1941. She has been an iconic crime fighter ever since.
What are Wonder Woman Comics worth?
If you have All-Star Comics #8, you could be looking at a heroic payout even if the comic isn’t in very good condition: even Grade 2 comics have sold for as much as $22,500, and Grade 9 comics have sold for as much as $411,001.
More of Diana’s story was revealed in Sensation Comics #1, sold in 1942. This comic is worth a great deal, selling anywhere from $43,200 to $399,100.
Wonder Woman received her own books in June of 1942, starting with Wonder Woman #1. This comic can sell for as much as $291,000 in mint condition, but even in good condition it sells for as much as $15,000.
Other issues have values that vary depending on the condition and rarity of the comic. As you can tell, prices fluctuate wildly and can depend on a wide variety of factors. Wonder Woman has undergone many redesigns and story shifts over the years, and her history has also shifted. She’s even been the subject of considerable controversy and in the 1950s was accused of “contributing to juvenile delinquency.”
Some of those later issues, in which Wonder Woman’s story was relaunched and revamped, are of considerable interest to collectors. Still, not every relaunch and revamp is popular: Wonder Woman #189, Red for Death, published in the 1970s and featuring a white-clad Wonder Woman letting loose with a machine gun, is only worth $20 to $30 despite offering an interesting departure from earlier Wonder Woman comics.
